padThe iSeries Pocket WebFacing Primer

by Brian W. Kelly

Book Description

The Express Approach to Re-facing Your 5250 Applications. This primer to WebFacing -- the full-featured iSeries Web development facility included in IBM's WebSphere Development Studio Client (WDSc) Eclipse package -- is designed to help you leverage your existing iSeries development knowledge into building dynamic Web applications. Whether you're on WDSc V4, WDSc V5, or WebSphere 3.5 or Express, if you're new to WebFacing, this book is designed for you.

Author Brian Kelly's case study approach shows you how to move your RPG IV, RPG/400, or Cobol green-screen applications to WebSphere or WebSphere Express and then onto the Internet. He demonstrates how to WebFace your applications, test them on the WDSc internal server, export them to the J2EE (EAR) file format, and install them on your WAS or WAS Express server. He even shows you how to run the applications and how to make the welcome panel more attractive. Perhaps the best news is that you don't need to learn Java to be successful. Get started with WebFacing today using this book as your how-to guide.
